PROJECT BASED LEARNING

Fueling the Contagious Spark for Learning

As you may know,  at  Sage Canyon, we use a Project Based Learning approach to create a foundation of fundamental and higher order thinking skills. Students learn important content by investigating questions, generating original ideas, and working collaboratively to produce products that demonstrate what they have learned.  A project motivates students to gain knowledge, and they remember it longer. Projects give students the chance to apply the skills they learn in school to personally relevant and real-world situations. Your child also learns skills in PBL such as how to think critically, solve problems, work in teams, and create presentations. These skills will help students succeed in the future and here at school, and thrive in the 21st century.

MISSION POSSIBLE: ENERGY

This fun and engaging project focuses on our 5th grade science and literacy standards. We will be studying different nonrenewable and renewable energy sources, and focusing on the advantages and disadvantages of using them. The kiddos will choose an energy source to do an in-depth research paper and presentation on. We will teach all of the students in our school about energy sources  at our 2nd annual SGCE Energy Expo!
